UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) decided to register “Washoku” (traditional Japanese cuisine) as an Intangible Cultural Heritage on December 4, 2013.
France and Japan are the only countries to have food culture of the country as a whole be recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Such a recognition has made traditional Japanese cuisine “washoku” more popular worldwide. Japanese food culture has been developed by many generations and continues nowadays.
We also welcome the popularization of Japanese food culture and hope to increase the volume of Japanese food export.
